Backlash
I didn’t see all of the PPV, so I’ll review what
I did catch.
Team Angle vs Guerreros – missed it
Torie/Sable/Test/Stacy angle – I think this is boring,
makes no sense and really sucks. Poor writing, any high school
kid coulda come with this crap.
RVD/Kane vs Dudley’s – good match, not great. RVD
hit some nice spots.
Trish vs Jazz – missed it
Big Show vs Rey Mysterio – missed it
John Cena vs Brock – I watched this match, but didn’t
really pay too much attention because nothing special was really
happening. There was missed spots, but overall it was OK. A
main event, world title match it was not, but a midcard level
would have been OK. I think Brock can only be in the main event
against other main event guys, Rock, Taker, Angle. He’s
not able yet to carry new guys like Cena in a main event level.
Y2J/HHH/Flair vs Booker T/Nash/HBK – again I didn’t
pay a lot of attention, because basically there wasn’t
a lot worth watching. It was OK, I guess, but was just basically
a set-up for Nash vs HHH this summer, which will be incredible
boring.
Rock vs Goldberg – OK match, nothing special. Interesting
that the fans are cheering the Rock again, the same ones that
booed him just 2 months ago. Goldberg getting some boos and
an overall lack of support, but that should have been expected.
Goldberg has been gone for years and keeps back with no buildup
matches against the most charismatic person in the industry.
Even the Rock can’t take off for making a movie and come
back without getting booed. What will they have Goldberg do
now?? The Rock is gone and HHH is working Nash. What other
top heel is there for him?? Y2J??
Overall, an unimpressive PPV with a lot of misused talent and
bad writing. It will be interesting to see what happens to
Goldberg now that the Rock is gone and how RAW will fare. I’m
sure Austin will be coming back now.
RAW
Y2J opens the show with new segment, his version of Piper’s
Pit. Guest Goldberg, they rib each other, but that Christian
comes out leading a bunch of heel jobbers. Steven Richards
get speared. Good Segment, some funny stuff.
Hurricane vs Morley – funny start with the two ribbing
each other. OK match w/ Hurricane winning.
5 Min White Boy Challenge – I might be the only person
in America that thinks this is funny. Long gets on Larry Bird
and says if Bird were black, whitey would never have given
him a chance, lol. Mack jobs some guy, while Teddy ribs coach,
he told Coach he was the only black man who didn’t have
February on his calendar, lol.
Trish demands a rematch with Jazz, Bishoff syas she has to
beat him for it, if she can’t she has to hook-up with
him that night. They only worse angle running than the harassment
angle with Bishoff is the Test and Stacy love squabble. Which
ran next.
RVD/Kane vs HHH/Flair – Ok match, Nash chases HHH away.
Its not like HHH can’t outrun him, since Nash can’t
go faster than walking. RVD 5***** splash to win.
Test/Steiner vs Rico/Nowinski – time filler, continues
with the meaningless test/stacy spat. Afterwards, the French
guys come down and jump Steiner.
Booker T and Goldberg meet and greet. It’s amazing how
over the WWE ahs made Booker T. He got pushes in the WCW, but
was never given a good personality and nevr got over like he
is now. It looks like the WWE are taking steps to ensure the
success fo Goldberg as a top face.
Booker T vs Christian – didn’t last long before
Rico, Jamal and Rosey come down. I know where this leading.
Goldberg makes save, gives an incredible spear to Rico, then
spears Rosey through the barracade around the ring, very nice.
This is what they should have done with Goldberg in the first
place to get him over. Two really nice spears are going to
help towards getting him way over.
Bishoff beats Trish when Jazz and Victoria come down to help.
The Linda Mcmahon shows up in a limo and Bishoff goes from
taunting Trish to trying to help her. Linda comes out announces
the return of Austin as co-GM with Bishoff. Austin comes out
stun Bishoff.
Overall, a much better RAW than I was expecting. Limited time
for HHH, HBK and Nash helped. It’s going to be a long
summer with HHH and Nash as the headline feud. Seeing Bishoff
get jobbed is always nice, and good stuff with Goldberg.
Boxing – James Toney beat Jirov exactly they way I though
he would. That fight played out directly as I predicted. Same
with Tarver vs Griffin.
This weekend we get a horrible PPV, with Oscar de lahomo vs
an old, washed-up fighter.4-08-03
RAW Review
The Good
- Rock, Christian promo, signing the DVD, funny as hell.
The Bad
- RVD buried on the second match of the night and jobbing to
Morley. Big time waste of talent here. Both RVD and Lance Storm.
- Steiner/Nowitzki, is there a purpose to this? Other than
the burying of Steiner in midcard hell?
- Truth.com commercials. Kid Cas doesn’t smoke, but these
stupid ass commercials makes him wanna.
- Kevin Nash, here’s a guy that was never that good to
begin with, then within a minute from returning from one injury,
injures himself again. How long before he gets hurt again?
Over/under 6 months, place your bets. The guy is decent, but
his main event run is over. Main event time better spent on
other guys like Kane and RVD, who will still be working a year
from now.
- Bishoff, sucks big time. The two lowest Raw ratings ever
were with Bishoff and the NWO paving the way.
Everything else
- Women’s match, Trish vs Jazz. Not enough talent to
have these matches every week. They need to only be working
on TV one or twice a month and they need many more workers.
- Jeff Hardy didn’t look his best against the Rock and
all that paint is getting out of hand.
- Main event, Booker T/Shawn Michaels vs Triple H/Jericho.
OK, except for the arrival of Nash
NCAA
Kansas chokes again, gets beat by Syracuse again, unable to
shoot out of the 2-3 zone again, this year’s tourney
was sooooo unpredictable. Will Roy goto UNC? Who knows? If
he didn’t go before he probably won’t again, but
you never know. They say after Roy, Tubby Smith is next on
the list. UNC can have him. He’ll win you a few ACC titles
, but no national titles. He’s crying about be unappreciated
in UK, well win a national title with your own recruits and
team then.
Hyprocrites
During the second week of the war, the press was criticizing
the military strategy. Saying things were going tougher than
expected, the plan had failed, blah, blah, blah, everything
was negative. But now they’re saying things are easier
than expected. We expected tougher opposition. The military
leaders are geniuses. Dumb *ss press, they’re jack *sses.
Just like the French and the UN, who didn’t support the
war. They called it illegal, but now they want in on the rebuilding
of Iraq and millions of $$$ and big business that go with it.
Unbelievable, we may have to kick some more *ss before it’s
over.
